Cars Of Dreams Museum
Cars Of Dreams Museum www.carsofdreams.com
The Cars of Dreams Private Museum is an unparalleled collection reflecting owner/curator John Staluppi's passion for classic car design. John Staluppi's car connoisseur status is well earned as a life long enthusiast and leader in the automotive industry. His museum celebrates the evolution in dream car design and is a comprehensive collection spanning over 50 years. Frequently updated with high caliber acquisitions, the museum is a constantly evolving, living collection.
Focusing on the golden age of American car design, post WWII - 1970's, the collection spotlights the era that was a perfect breeding ground for the classic cars we cherish today. Adding a further dimension to the experience is the exhibition space - a nostalgic village equipped with some of America's best loved icons that best reflect this golden age.
Located in the heart of Palm Beach County - known as America's tropical playground - is John Staluppi's Cars of Dreams Museum - a unique playground in its own right. Housed within a building larger than a football field, is one of the worlds great car collections set in a custom built village representing small town Americana to a tee. Inspired by John Staluppi's love of automobiles, Cars of Dreams is a soul stirring experience that transports us back to the roots of the American car culture and how it transformed the landscape of the United States.
For those of us whose earliest memories are in the years following World War II, Cars of Dreams Museum is able to capture the spirit of that era through thoughtful placement of cherished American icons throughout the extensive collection. The result is a sensory smorgasbord that creates a flood of emotion. Since much of the car collection is mid- century, a number of the village structures represent that period. From the post war modern curves of Bob's Big Boy, to the 50's fantastic fins at the drive-inn, we experience the romance and mystery of that unique time in American history.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG priced for Europe, now taking orders.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG now has an order form and a price. While it's not cheap, it's nowhere near the most expensive car in the range: for €177,310 ($265,531 U.S. – note: that is a straight conversion, not an indication of the car's U.S. cost), you can put one of the gullwinged wonders in your – probably climate-controlled – garage.
That fits well in between the prices for the SL63 AMG at €148,155 and the SL65 AMG at a blistering €224,672. You get four more cylinders, 40 more hp and a folding hartop on the SL65; yet the SLS gets you gullwing doors, retro styling and €47,000 left over in your pocket. And you're still cooler than the folks in a Mercedes-McLaren SLR, who spent €450,000 when it was new.
What the SLS AMG purchase price won't get you is expedited delivery: the car still won't arrive until Spring of 2010. If you're one of those who needs to keep up, some gent named Matthew K. has been designated "the SLS AMG reporter" and he'll be posting all manner of info and clips online. You can read about it in the press release after the jump, check the car out again in the gallery of high-res photos below, or call your Luxembourger account manager in three, two, one...

Oldsmobile F-88 Concept Car
The world's rarest automobile. A 1954 concept old's Rocket F88 - the only one in existence. John S. Hendricks, (Discovery Communications founder) paid in excess of 3 million to acquire.
After spending decades as a collection of parts stuffed into wooden crates – the F-88 was reassembled.
In 1954 – the F-88 was a Motorama “Dream Car” and was one of only two – or an unconfirmed possible three ever created. The F-88 seen here is literally the only car left of its kind – and was sold to John and Maureen Hendricks at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale , Arizona for an unbelievable $3,240,000. This acquisition made automotive history and is the “cornerstone” of the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum in its own special room in a rotating display worthy of the F-88!

Sema 2009 10
SEMA 2009: Pinkee's ignites lust for a Pontiac Firebird
This year's SEMA show might have been a bit smaller than in years past, but there were certainly some heavy hitters in the crowd that proved the old "quality, not quantity" adage. Take, for instance, this super-clean, super-fine 1977 Pontiac Firebird. Like the Ringbrothers "Afterburner" Fairlane and the Goodguys Street Machine of the Year 1962 Corvette C1-RS, the look is modern, yet definitely retro. Dreamed up by hot rod artist Jimmy Smith, it was crafted to life by Pinkee's Rod Shop of Windsor, Colorado.
It has a smooth-as-glass appearance with its gloss black paint dripping off its shaved and streamlined form. Elegantly simple billet wheels, naked headlamps and a restyled rear complete the exterior look. The interior hasn't been forgotten either, as it is fully custom and equally straightforward. The same can be said for the engine bay, which looks like a surgical O.R., with its LS7 engine resting neatly in a fully customized bay. It was easily one of our favorite cars at this year's show.
This super-slick 1977 built by Ron Jones' Garage features one-off wheels, an LS-7 V8, Detroit Speed suspension, and a completely custom interior. Jones' crew and Pinkie's Hot Rods even created aluminum inner panels, a custom steel dash, and they re-created the rear bumper cover in steel and added a fiberglass nose. It's debuting at the SEMA show, and you can learn all about it here!

SMS 570X 700 hp
During the course of a wide-ranging, more than two-hour long conversation, the team from autoblog.com asked racing legend, aftermarket impresario and SMS namesake Steve Saleen what's the single most important thing he wants Autoblog readers to know about not only his new 700-horsepower 570X, but about SMS as a whole. Without missing a beat, Mr. Saleen cocked his head to one side and said, "That we're not a tuning shop. SMS is an Original Equipment Manufacturer."

World Boat Racing Penrith 2012
For the first time, there was boat racing at the Penrith Regatta Stadium, and it was a heat of the World Championship. Must have been a real coo for the organizers.
