After 3 years of a rebuild and numerious tweeks of the new motor and transmission, finally got to take the Vette down the quarter at a mixed club day. Stared at 14.1 and ended up at 13.2 at 103mph on street rubber.
I've never had so much Got to do this again Some video footage of the day -------------------- |

Good stuff Cam, it's good to see that you're enjoying your car at the track.
13.2 is a respectful time, however now the bugs bitten i'm sure you're pondering on what's required to run quicker. If you think drag racing is fun wait until you come out to any one of the circuits. Same adrenilin rush except the fun doesn't stop after 13 seconds. Think of it as a series of drag strips all joined together by corners. Don't get me wrong though, the drags are a lot of fun and I used to be a regular at our local strip until the local government closed it down. -------------------- "Winning at a show is a matter of opinion, Winning at the track is a matter of fact"

Cam,
13's are a nice starter. Surely though you can extract a bit more before adding "air pressure" or "NO2"?? Having followed your journey for so long I was quietly hoping for slightly better times! My 350 is not quite but very close to a mirror of yours!! But I elected to go emanual vis TKO 5speed. What tranny and converter did you end up with? Cheers David |

Cheers David I was only ever targeting a 13 second car. Sure could do more easily but then it starts to get not street friendly. Mind you I think I will do a little and get her to the 12 point something seconds, (then there is my other thought and leaving it as is and do another project. I've always had a thing about hemis.) The diff is a 308:1 which doesn't help but I built it to cruise not drag. As it is she's doing 3000rmp at 110kph. Gerabox is the turbo 350 with case savers, shift kit and a 2600 stall. -------------------- |

Hi Cam, Been busier than a one legged tap dancer, just dropped in. When I was a lot younger, had a ride in a 13 second LH Torana, which was for me at that time the fastest machine I had ever been in! If my Vette [whenever it gets finished!!] does 13 seconds for the quarter, I'll be happy. But it would be nice to exceed the expectations!! I like the idea of circuit days and would have loved to have it [the vette] finished before close of Oran Park! Raced a Mazda RX2 in the Street Sedan Series in the mid '80s at Amaroo Park and Oran Park. Now both a part of history! Second project?? Would be like a second marriage!! Too soon!! Cheers David |
